Terms of Use

Last Updated: May 12, 2026

Welcome to the Africa Energy Technology Conference (AETC) 2026 digital services, including our website at aetconference.com and related properties (collectively, the “Site”), and the official attendee mobile application (AETC Attendees) (together with the Site, the “Services”).

By accessing or using the Services you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”), our Privacy Policy, and our Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Conference registration & attendance

Access to AETC 2026 conference activities generally requires registration and, where applicable, purchase of a valid pass. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. Registration fees, refunds, and cancellations are governed by the policies stated at the point of sale and applicable law. We may refuse registration or admission where reasonably necessary for safety, capacity, compliance, or contractual reasons.

2. Payment terms

Payments for tickets, exhibition space, sponsorships, or related offerings must be made according to checkout instructions. Payments are processed by our payment partners (Paystack or successors). Fees may be quoted inclusive or exclusive of taxes as indicated at checkout. Chargebacks or payment disputes may result in suspension of access until resolved.

3. Accounts, authentication & mobile application

Certain features require an account secured through email-based one-time-password (OTP) verification or equivalent flows operated via our servers and Supabase authentication. You must safeguard OTP codes and device access. You agree that account activity conducted after successful authentication may be treated as yours unless you promptly notify us of compromise at info@aetconference.com.

You may install and use the mobile app only on devices you own or control and in compliance with platform rules (Apple App Store, Google Play). You may not reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or interfere with the Services except where mandatory law permits.

4. User-generated content & licence

Where the Services allow uploads (for example photo wall, conference feedback images, social-cover participation), you retain ownership of your content subject to the licence you grant below. You confirm you have rights to submit the content and that it does not infringe third-party rights or violate law.

By submitting content through features that display an explicit consent statement (for example marketing consent on the photo wall), you grant AETC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, display, distribute, and create derivative works from that content strictly for the purposes stated at collection (such as event promotion and reporting). Other submissions are licensed for operational purposes: receiving, reviewing, storing, displaying internally to organisers, and using feedback to improve services, subject to our Privacy Policy.

We may remove content that violates these Terms, creates risk, or is inappropriate for a professional conference environment.

5. Intellectual property rights

Unless expressly stated (including content you own), all materials on the Services — branding, text, graphics, databases, software, and compilation — are owned by AETC or licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. Except for temporary browsing or personal non-commercial use permitted by law, you may not copy, modify, distribute, publicly display, or exploit such materials without prior written consent.

6. User conduct

You agree to use the Services only for lawful, respectful purposes. Without limitation, you must not:

  • Upload or transmit material that is unlawful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, harassing, or infringes privacy or intellectual property;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, accounts, or data;
  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers) on the Services except public search engines as permitted by robots configuration or with written approval;
  • Mislead others about affiliation with AETC or impersonate staff;
  • Circumvent security, quotas, or technical limits.

7. Third-party services & processors

The Services integrate infrastructure and processors including Supabase (database, auth, storage, realtime), SendGrid or equivalent mail delivery, Paystack (payments), hosting providers (for example Vercel), and analytics where consented. Their processing is described in our Privacy Policy; additional terms of those providers apply when you interact directly with their interfaces (notably payment checkout).

8. Links to third-party websites

Links are provided for convenience. We do not control third-party sites and are not responsible for their content, policies, or availability.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, quiet enjoyment, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation; conference schedules, speakers, and programmes may change.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AETC and its organisers, affiliates, directors, staff, volunteers, contractors, and suppliers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, or data, arising from use of the Services or inability to use them, even if advised of the possibility. Aggregate liability for direct damages arising out of these Terms (except where prohibited by law) shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to us for the specific transaction giving rise to the claim in the twelve (12) months before the event or (b) fifty US dollars (USD 50).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the minimum permitted.

11. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify AETC against claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Services, your content, or breach of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our wilful misconduct.

12. Privacy & data protection

Personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, designed to meet GDPR expectations where applicable alongside Ghana data-protection requirements. By using the Services you acknowledge collection and processing as described there.

13. Apple App Store & Google Play

If you obtain the mobile app through Apple App Store or Google Play, you acknowledge that: (a) these Terms are between you and AETC, not with Apple or Google; (b) Apple/Google are not responsible for the app or its content; (c) Apple/Google have no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the app; (d) Apple/Google are third-party beneficiaries of your compliance with any applicable store rules, solely with respect to enforcement of those rules. You must also comply with applicable third-party terms of service when using the Services.

14. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Services or specific features where reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or breach of these Terms. Provisions that by nature should survive (intellectual property, liability limits, indemnity, governing law) survive termination.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may modify these Terms by posting an updated version with a new “Last Updated” date. Material changes may be highlighted on the Site or communicated by email where appropriate. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance unless mandatory law requires explicit consent.

16. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would apply another jurisdiction’s laws. Courts in Ghana have non-exclusive jurisdiction unless mandatory consumer protections where you reside require otherwise.
